ON STILL DAYS

This is one of my most simple pieces, so many people find it beautiful and sweet. I recently listened to a talk about emotional education by The School Of Life, London and Alain de Botton said something along the lines of (and I am not quoting him) 'it's usually our struggles, failures and embarrassments that make us more relate-able and desirable' and when I really thought about it he really was not false. We as humans find vulnerability so attractive, it makes the other person seem more human and we tend to get increasingly confident in them and that is what I was trying to achieve with this short poem. When my mind is relaxed "still"  a feeling of openness arises I  feel less obliged to hide the truth and it is in these moments that others "reflect" my openness and "i see myself in them."

On still days
I the sky,
you the sea,
I see in you a reflection of me.
