ODE A MA MERE
My series of work up until March of 2019 did not include any meditations on family, so I decided to include one about my mother named "Ode a ma mere" and another about my grandfather named "Grandfather". Both of which are an ode to two individuals who have tinted my spirit with shades of shimmering gold unlike any other being I have encountered thus far.
Ode a ma mere is a highly metaphoric ode to my mother and how she has moulded me to be in her likeness. To begin with she is extremely eloquent & has a bubbly personality which I term as 'vivacious-eloquence' and as all mothers are 'kind' but 'stern' when it comes to discipline their main aim is to achieve a child raised to be 'integral.'
A child's tantrums and rebellious actions I describe as 'volcanic eruptions' so imagine the wrath of a child akin to the bubbling and boiling beneath the crater of a volcano just waiting for the pressure to build to a point of a massive explosion. Likewise imagine your parents as the ocean, it is said that water existed first before all other surface things therefore I view it as 'the most wise' of all, doesn't that make a parent much wiser than a child?
Once the lava from an eruption collides with water it cools and turns into rock through what I term as 'violent collisions' that I am honestly 'grateful for' because it is all those arguments and lectures that 'mould' a child and a child like fresh land is a breeding spot for flowers, trees, hills, lagoons and creatures giving the child their personality.
My mother will always be 'my first teacher' and most importantly 'the first human being I fell in love with.'

Ode a Ma Mere
It's the simple
things about her I like,
Her kind-sternness
That vivacious-eloquence,
But integrity most
of all
Is no joke like cat
with ball
23 years strong
started all wrong,
Teen like volcanic
eruptions
Against the wisdom
of an ocean,
That soon tamed me
on reaching it's shore,
Violent collisions
I'm grateful for
That moulded this
form,
My first teacher
and what more?
The first being I
ever fell in love with
